PostSubject: Changing Computers   Changing Computers Icon_minitimeFri Mar 20, 2009 8:33 am

(I know this is in the wrong place. I tried to post it in Tips and News but it would not let me)

I am about to change to a new computer. Is it easier/faster to start from scratch and download AA onto the new computer or is it easier/faster to burn a DVD from my present computer and load it onto the new one?

If it's easier to burn a copy, do I just burn the entire America's Army file from Program Files?

Thanks.

i don't think copying the folder from that computer would work, since it's installed according to the hardware settings on that computer only (Your gfx card settings, mouse settings, etc), but if you have different hardware on your new computer, I would recommend installing a fresh copy.

If you still have the download with the game patches, burning to a DVD is the quickest.

At least that is what I did. Very Happy

Thanks Jenty and Rilla.
I'm not sure if i have the original download and patches or not. I think rather than fucking something up I'll just download a new copy.

I have every copy of AA since 2.0 was released. i DL them then transfer the entire DL to my external (same with the patches) so whenever i do a reinstall i have the full DL saved. saves time trying to get that big ass file again. but the file folder in the Program Files is just the uncompressed copy with no installer if i'm not mistaken so even if you save the file you cant install it. BUT if you have any binds you need to save your .ini file out of the Americas Army/System folder. just paste it back into the same file once you get the new copy installed
