| Got it working. Gonna take a bit to get used to the tank side, especially with my shit video card lol. I gave the plane side a whirl and its damn fun. Thanks for the suggestion guys, I think this one will be fun for quite some time. | |

| I do a bit of War Thundering.
There are the planes you want to fly and planes you don't want to fly.
Each tier and battle rating has it windshields and bugs.
The higher the tier/battle rating the more you will need to fly or tank in a squad and understand the characteristics of the vehicle you are in and the vehicles you will face.

| Mouse and Flight Stick both have advantages and disadvantages. Mouse:Advantages-Easy to fly, less controls to worry about. And it is easier to get your gun sights on target. Just move your mouse in the direction you want to go. Also, use your keyboard in conjunction with your mouse. This improves maneuverability. Also it is easier to fly when you are damaged. Via the "Flight instructor" Again pointing in the direction you want to go and the "Flight Instructor" takes care of the rest if the plane is still viable to fly.Disadvantages-A mouse user controls can be sluggish at times compared to a joystick due to the "Flight Instructor". Some flight maneuvers are not possible. (A true Hammer Head for one) Formation flying is harder compared to a stick. And there are a few in flight tunings that can not be done with a mouse compared to a joystick. A Stick:Advantages-Fine tune your plane. But each plane is different and unless you know the plane it would be a lot of trial and error until you got the setting you like. Wing Trim, Engine fuel mixtures, Ability to turn off the engine(Helps when it is on fire). Bombers you can also turn your engines off separately. Smoother flights, less tail wagging(You'll know what I mean when you fly with a mouse). You'll have a slight advantage when it comes to engagements. But, unless you are committed to learning to use a stick and do it every day it will be a disadvantage.Disadvantage:You have to tune your plane. Also, it is a bugger to get your stick to work right with War Thunder. Best to find a stick player and ask him to help you set it up. Or else you are going to find your plane doing cartwheels on the runway, and flat spins in mid air and not know why. And if you forget to open your dampers after you engine warms up, you will burn your engine out. In engagements it will be harder for you to get your gun sights on the target. It will be a while before you will see have the advantage over the mouse player.Mouse is definitely is the easiest and is used by 90% of War Thunder Players. I use a mouse.Unless you play the game for the real realism, the stick would not be a very good choice. Especially in "Arcade Mode". When I first started out, Arcade is what I played, I moved up to Realistic in planes and you'll find me in an arcade match every once in awhile. In tanks; I do all three modes. When I have the time LOL. I partitioned to have a Xwing available. The developers said I would have to try a different game platform.

| Don't let that number fool you. I just happened to be in the right place at the right time.
It's a long story, but lets just say, a lot of those points came from riding on the wings of some of the best pilots in the game over a 30 month period.

| I'm learning to kick the rudder over, using the Q and E keys, while banking and leveling off, rapidly, to stay with someone or stay on someone's tail. Not as easy as you'd think and I'm more used to flying with a stick, even though it's been a very long time (think Commodore 64) since I have. I've got a Saitek ST220 stick right now, but the game doesn't have a profile for it, like they do for the Saitek X52 and X55 sticks. | |

| LOL Cpt. Download load a copy of Teamspeak. When I see in game I will shoot you an invite. And walk you through some of the basics. What to practice with and which planes are better to be researching and flying with. To get you started here at two videos, War Thunder has put up for the new guys. It may help. It may not. LOL[You must be registered and logged in to see this link.][You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]For those trying for the first time, pick Russia for your first country the free premium plane is the best and Russia planes in general are best to start out in. Good Luck, hope to see you in game.-G | |
