The Cup Holder

From the "And you thought this was an urban myth" department: True story from a Novell NetWire SysOp.

Caller: "Hello, is this Tech Support?"

Tech: "Yes it is, how may I help you?"

Caller: "The cup holder on my PC is borken and I am within my warranty period. How do I go about getting that fixed?"

Tech: "I'm sorry, but did you say cup holder?"

Caller: "Yes, its attached to the front of my PC."

Tech: "Please excuse me if i seem to be a bit stumped, it's because i am. Did you receive this as a part of a promotional, at a trade show?

How did you get this cup holder? Does it have a trademark on it?"

Caller: "It came with my computer, I don't know anything about a promotional, it just has '4X' on it."

At this point the tech had to mute the caller, be cause he couldn't stand it. The caller had been using the loader drawer for the CD-ROM drive as a cup holder, and snapped it off the drive.

While working at Radio Shack, I had a customer ask me where the CD's went, that came with his computer. I asked him to show me which model he had, which he did. After I pushed the open button, on the cd-rom drive, he said, "I already found the cup holder, but where do I put the cd's?" I had to bite my tongue very quickly and just as quickly and diplomatically as possible, point out that no computer ever came with a cup holder and that he should refrain from using it as such and put the cd's in that came with his pc.

Yes, it actually happened, pretty much as I stated. I wasn't sure if the guy was from one of those 'shopper' groups or actually that ignorant. In either case, I had to chose my words carefully and quickly.

Well i use to have 4 cup holder, one for beer, second for coke and rum, third for Piscola and last one for my coffee... lol!
