| If you live in the US, you know that it's illegal to fuck around with the wildlife, unless it's hunting season and it's especially illegal if you fuck around with waterfowl that happens to be nesting. At my place of work, there is quite a bit of bark mulch, brown stone gravel, various shrubs, evergreens and the like. Exactly the type of things to attract a mallard hen. Mallards are out of season, at present and I'm really not that hungry, as duck is very greasy. Anyway, 2 days ago, the Orkin pest control guy was there putting out some more live traps, around the building and discovered the duck, on her clutch of eggs, nicely concealed under one of the evergreen shrubs. The gentleman informed the manager and her boss, who happened to be present, at the time. Yesterday, my boss tells me "Whenever you're outside and happen to think of it, take a broom and get rid of the duck". My response was, "Um.............ok."
Last spring, we had a duck on a nest, on a clutch of eggs and after a time, the duck left and I found that the eggs had been destroyed. Nobody saw the manager do anything to that duck, but most of us believe her responsible for the disappearance and destruction of the eggs. The job isn't that great but it's the only one I have and I'd rather not get fired, in retaliation for turning her in. Afaik, I'd get a lesser fine and sentence for selling meth on Main Street, than the one I'd get for fucking around with the duck and her eggs. The duck isn't stealing, like the seagull in Cote's avatar, it's just hidden in back of the building not interfering with business and most of us would like it left alone. I'm not sure what the best option is or if there is one.

| How long before the problem resolves itself (i.e. the ducks hatch and fly away)? If it's a short period of time, I'd conveniently forget to take care of the duck until the ducklings were able to fly away. If it's a long period of time, I might try reasoning with my boss on the issue. If you want to go the less-than-above-board route you could call Wildlife Protection and let them know the duck is there anonymously. | |

| well your manager may not be aware of the repercussions from messing with a nesting duck. since it is illegal to invite an employee to break the law, you can say you cant do that, or ask "are you gonna cover the monster fine if DEC busts me for it?"
as Slow said, quietly inform DEC the duck is there, not causing a disturbance, but you are afraid some "kids" might bother it. DEC might relocate the duck, nest, eggs and all to state waterfowl refuge

| I say you dress up like a duck or get some friends to. Bust into her house and stomp on her for a bit asking her "how you like that!"
them call wildlife. | |

I have no clue how long before the eggs will hatch and as for calling the state Dept. of Natural Resources, that was done last year. They won't move a nesting duck or goose, until after the eggs have hatched out.
