| Ya know i've watched a lot of shit on tv about him over the weekend. i did grow up in an era when Michael Jackson was young and doing incredible things musically that so many have copied as his career grew in fame and infamey . The scandals that plagued the last several years of his life overshadow all of the great things he did for music and completely shattering barriers and being one of the pioneers of the motown sound that introduced the world to a new generation of sound and artisrty.
Though i did not listen to his music, and i admit that i have listened to many things he has released over the years, i think the world lost a truly talented and prolific artist with the passing of Michael Jackson. He was the elvis of a new generation and he deserved that esteem. He was truly a great, although excentric artist, but music would never been the same without him.
Look past the scandals of the last several years and listen to some of the stuff the Jackson 5 put out in the 60s and 70s, listen to the music Michel put out solo in the 70s and 80s, watch his performance in The Wiz, he was truly a talented artist and his place should be considered sacred in the music world.

| i have to agree here, he was an extraordinary performer and musical artist. whether you believe the scandals or not, he was certainly a true talent. i must admit the passing of Farrah was for me, more heart-wrenching, as her passing came after a 2 and half year struggle to which she finally succumbed. Farrah will always be remembered as the perennial sex symbol of the 1970's. for most people the boys of my age group, her famous poster was the first poster we owned, and likely the first spank bank material. Not trying to take away from the loss of MJ, but lets not forget her either. | |
