Installed Windows 7 on my notebook as clean installation (not upgraded it for Vista). As far as I can state for the moment, everything works fine and in good performance.
Not sure which consequences it might have to just upgrade from Vista to 7. There were some patches by Microsoft the last days dealing with interoperability and some OEMs like in my case Lenovo launched new or dedicated Windows 7 drivers. ATI patched also the Radeon drivers, thus AA gaming could be touched (black SS maybe).

Anyhow I upgrade my desktop which I play AA at the next days and post my experience.

I have it and the upgrade will not allow you to do a clean install like previous updates. IT MUST UPGRADE an installed system.

There was also one point where it asks that you input the product key. If you do this it says invalid key! No warning or anything just Invalid Key. Do not enter a Key and just hit next. There are no instructions to do this.

Othere than that. The jury is out. I think I should have left Vista alone.

i ran it in a pre-release form for a bit, but it was a monster of a program and used more resources than vista, so i reinstalled vista, but as i said it was a PRE-RELEASE version through microsoft. i want to put it on pc, but will wait til at least the first service pack is out.

i have laptop with a vista before any service packs were released, and a desktop with vista and service pack one. the SP makes all the difference in the world, many bugs are not in the older version, even downloading and installing the SP on the lappy didn't help much, it's just a buggy version of vista.

Keep VISTA. Not a big difference seen other than some parts of the GUI.

I installed Windows 7 Professional with a clean installation over my Vista business and I had no probs with registering via my key.

Atm I can't see any big differences to Vista as my PC had already under Vista a high performance but last night at dinner I had a chat with a software consultant and he told me that Windows 7 will set new benchmarks for OS.

So give it a try if you are unsatisfied with Vista but if Vista runs properly and your performance level is ok, I don't see why changing a running system.

I have been running the windows 7 beta now for almost 8 months now on my laptop with no problem. I still have Vista 64 bit on my desktop witch from time to time does give me some headaches, But I think Windows 7 is definitely less glitchy and fast then xp, but not much different then Vista.

Windows 7 Ultimate x64 version, did an upgrade from Vista x64 Ultimate. No problems at all, just had to reinstall iTunes and Daemon Tools. AA3 and AA2 still working.

Edit: I did the beta for nearly a year and the final retail build is awesome, so get that if you're still running one of the older RC's or builds.

Depends on which version of the beta you're running. Here's a good blog that I checked on during the beta stage, it gives you a good overlook of the stuff they improved. http://blogs.msdn.com/e7/archive/2009/02/26/some-changes-since-beta.aspx

I'd get the retail release just because it's the latest one and future updates will build on that.
